Overview:

We’re looking for a data-driven and commercially minded Marketplace & E-Commerce Manager to lead high-impact online marketplace operations and digital growth for a premier technology distributor. Based in the Midrand office, this is an exciting opportunity to completely own, manage, and scale an extensive multi-brand product catalog across major local online channels.

While you will lead the operational strategy, you will not be doing this alone – you will be backed by an extensive, highly supportive network of warehouse, finance, marketing, and technical sales teams to help execute your vision. If you’re passionate about backend marketplace execution, large-scale catalog optimization, and navigating complex e-commerce logistics, we’d love to hear from you.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, own, and execute the daily operation and commercial performance of core online marketplace environments.
  • Manage the complete lifecycle of product listings, ensuring absolute data accuracy, optimal content, and listing health across extensive SKU catalogs.
  • Coordinate end-to-end logistics, from inventory forecasting and replenishment planning to warehouse coordination and marketplace labeling compliance.
  • Drive online revenue growth while optimizing Gross Merchandise Value (GMV), conversion rates, stock coverage, and overall account health.
  • Execute retail pricing and promotional strategies, including competitor benchmarking, price monitoring, and calculating viable margin structures.
  • Manage day-to-day marketplace portal activities, aggressively triaging operational exceptions, customer escalations, and disabled listings.
  • Build insightful performance reports using data analytics to present marketplace KPIs, sales run rates, and return trends to senior stakeholders.
  • Manage marketplace fee structures, profitability monitoring, and stock management to protect gross margins and minimize aged inventory.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional internal departments, including Marketing, Warehouse, Procurement, and Finance, to maintain operational excellence.

Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years of recent, hands-on e-commerce experience managing a high-volume online marketplace ecosystem.
  • Proven success and expert-level competency in managing the Takealot Seller Portal is an absolute, non-negotiable requirement.
  • Strong hands-on experience managing a massive listing base and coordinating high-volume, multi-brand product catalogs.
  • Familiarity with technology distribution, consumer electronics, ICT, networking, or smart home products is highly advantageous.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to measure retail KPIs, calculate product run rates, and manage fee structures.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, exceptional organizational abilities, and sharp problem-solving skills for resolving compliance disputes.
  • Ability to work permanently from our corporate office based in Midrand, Gauteng.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with integrated ERP or inventory management systems.

Please note: Due to the high volume of applications, only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted. If you do not hear from us within two weeks, please consider your application unsuccessful at this time. We thank you for your interest in the role and wish you the best in your career search.
