Summary
We’re seeking an experienced Editorial Writer, Messaging & Positioning professional to craft compelling language and stories that define the voice and perspective of a leading music brand. This role will shape how the brand communicates across its platform and marketing channels, blending editorial storytelling with strategic messaging. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in music journalism or editorial writing and experience working with major media or entertainment brands.
Responsibilities
- Write and edit materials that inform messaging and brand positioning both internally and externally, influencing cross-functional communication, PR, and marketing.
- Apply a deep understanding of audience engagement to develop resonant story angles and creative approaches.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine storytelling strategies and reach key audiences effectively.
- Develop new editorial concepts and storytelling frameworks that connect with music audiences.
- Stay current with trends, news, and emerging voices across music and culture.
- Shape and maintain a consistent brand voice through written content across multiple touchpoints.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience as a music writer, editor, or journalist for reputable media brands.
- Strong understanding of narrative, tone, and storytelling techniques.
- Ability to work quickly and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with artist marketing and music creator ecosystems.
- Experience collaborating with marketing, PR, and creative teams.
- Exceptional writing and communication skills.
- Knowledge of editorial standards and style guides.
- Ability to interpret data and tailor messaging for different audiences.
- Extensive understanding of music and pop culture, both current and historical.
- Comfortable building relationships and collaborating across teams.
- Proficiency in writing with inclusive language for diverse audiences.
- Must be able to work on-site in Culver City at least three days per week on a hybrid schedule.
