Engineering Manager

Salt is currently hiring an Engineering Manager, for a client of ours in Amsterdam. The role requires you to have kvk/zzp and is paying around 120/130 euros per hour.

The Engineering Manager leads, develops, and supports a high-performing engineering team, ensuring the successful delivery of scalable, high-quality software solutions aligned with business objectives. This role combines people leadership, technical guidance, delivery oversight, and stakeholder management to foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & People

• Lead, coach, and develop an engineering team, supporting performance, career growth, and engagement.
• Build a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team culture.
• Support recruitment, workforce planning, and succession planning.

Delivery & Technical Leadership

• Oversee the successful delivery of engineering initiatives, ensuring quality, scalability, and timely execution.
• Remove delivery blockers, manage risks, and monitor team performance.
• Promote engineering best practices, software quality, security, and continuous improvement.
• Provide technical guidance and support architectural and design decisions.

Operational Excellence

• Ensure reliable, secure, and maintainable applications through effective monitoring, incident management, and continuous improvement.
• Drive root cause analysis, operational resilience, and knowledge sharing.

Stakeholder Management

• Work closely with Product, Architecture, Operations, and business stakeholders to deliver solutions that meet business and customer needs.
• Communicate progress, risks, and technical decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience leading software engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of modern software development practices, Agile delivery, and cloud-based technologies.
• Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
