Group Accountant

We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Group Accountant to join a high-performing finance team operating within a complex and dynamic environment.

This is a unique opportunity for a qualified accountant who enjoys working at the intersection of financial reporting, systems administration, payroll governance, and business improvement. You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity of financial information, optimising ERP systems, and supporting strategic decision-making through high-quality reporting and analysis.

About the Role

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy and effectiveness of financial systems while managing complex reporting obligations. You will act as the liaison between the finance team and their technology partner relating to ERP, oversee payroll governance processes, and lead external reporting requirements.

The role offers significant variety and exposure across financial reporting, system optimisation, compliance, taxation, payroll, and stakeholder management.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and submission of external reporting requirements.
• Support month-end, year-end, and statutory financial reporting processes.
• Provide expert guidance on complex accounting treatments and compliance with IFRS.
• Support external audit activities and ensure timely resolution of audit requests.
• Manage payroll governance and financial payroll processes alongside external payroll providers and HR.
• Act as the internal subject matter expert for GST and FBT matters.
• Deliver meaningful financial insights and analysis to support business decision-making.
• Acting as the key point of contact within the finance team for ERP related queries.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will bring a combination of strong technical accounting capability, systems passion, and a continuous improvement mindset.

Key Requirements

• CA or CPA qualified.
• Strong financial reporting experience within a professional commercial or public sector organisation.
• ERP systems experience, ideally including system administration responsibilities.
• Sound knowledge of IFRS.
• Experience with GST, FBT, and complex taxation matters.
• Experience working with outsourced payroll providers and payroll reconciliations.
