An outstanding opportunity has arisen for an experienced technology risk leader to join a major enterprise technology organisation as Head of Divisional Controls.

This is a highly influential leadership role responsible for embedding and strengthening first-line technology risk management across a large-scale technology function. Working closely with CIOs, technology executives, risk leaders, and global delivery teams, you will help shape the organisation’s risk posture while enabling innovation, transformation, and operational excellence.

The successful candidate will combine deep technology risk expertise with strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to influence at executive level across complex and geographically distributed environments.

The Opportunity

As Head of Divisional Controls, you will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of technology risk and control frameworks across a broad technology landscape spanning infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, applications, data, third-party services, and emerging technologies.

You will act as a trusted advisor to senior technology leaders, providing strategic guidance on risk management, regulatory compliance, operational resilience, control effectiveness, and emerging risk trends including AI and automation.

This role offers the opportunity to drive meaningful change across a large and complex technology organisation while partnering closely with first, second, and third-line risk functions.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Risk Leadership

• Lead the identification, assessment, monitoring, and mitigation of technology risks across complex technology environments
• Partner with CIOs and senior technology stakeholders to strengthen risk management practices and improve control effectiveness
• Provide expert guidance on technology risk frameworks, controls, compliance obligations, and regulatory requirements
• Drive continuous improvement in risk management maturity and culture

Controls & Governance

• Design, implement, and enhance first-line risk controls aligned with enterprise standards
• Oversee risk profiling, control assessments, remediation activities, and management attestations
• Support risk forums, governance committees, audits, and assurance reviews
• Provide strategic oversight of regulatory responses and risk-related initiatives

Stakeholder Engagement

• Build strong relationships with technology executives, risk teams, regulators, auditors, and key business stakeholders
• Influence decision-making through data-driven insights and clear recommendations
• Act as a trusted advisor on emerging technology risks, operational resilience, AI adoption, and regulatory change

Leadership & Capability Building

• Lead and mentor high-performing risk professionals
• Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and proactive risk management
• Support capability uplift across technology and operational risk disciplines
• Drive best practice approaches across global and offshore delivery environments

About You

You are a seasoned technology risk professional with a strong understanding of complex technology environments and the ability to balance risk management with commercial outcomes.

You possess excellent stakeholder management skills and are comfortable engaging with executive leaders, technology teams, auditors, regulators, and risk specialists.

Key Experience

• 10+ years’ experience in technology and operational risk management
• Senior leadership experience within large, complex enterprise environments
• Deep understanding of technology risk, operational risk, governance, and compliance frameworks
• Experience across cloud, infrastructure, cybersecurity, applications, data, and third-party risk domains
• Strong knowledge of control design, risk assessment, remediation, and assurance practices
• Experience working with offshore or shared service delivery models
• Exposure to banking, financial services, or other highly regulated industries highly regarded

Desired Qualifications

• Relevant degree in Technology, Information Systems, Business, Risk, or a related discipline
• Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CRISC or similar highly regarded
• Postgraduate qualifications advantageous
