We are looking for an experienced Assurance Advisor to support the safe and compliant delivery of decommissioning operations. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct assurance visits and reviews across SVT decommissioning projects in line with the assurance plan and risk profile.
  • Monitor site performance to identify where additional support or actions are required, escalating concerns to the Senior Advisor or Manager.
  • Organise and support seven-day reviews following close calls, incidents, and accidents, ensuring full investigations are completed.
  • Track compliance and assurance visit outcomes against the VMR (Visit Monitoring Register).
  • Support sites in carrying out event investigations to establish root causes and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented.

  • Escalate unsafe acts or conditions and, where required, stop unsafe work.
  • Support the Risk & Assurance team in communicating good practice and lessons learned across the decom programme.
  • Assist with the delivery and tracking of improvement projects, ensuring actions are completed and embedded at site level.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong background in health and safety, assurance, risk management or operational site supervision.
  • Experience working in major hazard environments – oil & gas, refinery, petrochemical, or COMAH sites.
  • Hands-on experience with incident investigation, root cause analysis, and assurance activities.
  • Confidence to engage at all levels – from site workforce to senior leadership.
  • Excellent organisational skills, able to manage multiple assurance activities.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure, including escalating and stopping unsafe work.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills.

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent as a minimum).
  • Experience in assurance, compliance, or safety management in operational environments.
  • Knowledge of ISO standards (45001, 14001, 9001) beneficial.
