Lead React Developer (Team Mentoring/Leading)

Our client is an established player in the design and innovation space, with clients all over the globe and most recently was awarded the Great Place to Work Certification. Auckland-based, should be able to work from home a few days in a week in a hybrid setup.

The role (Permanent Lead React Developer)

• Reporting to the Architect and then to the Technology Director, handling 3 squads which will have client (large retail client) as well is 1 or 2 internal members in each of those squads. Having said that, the squad works as one team and there is no differentiation. The role is a replacement position where the member has decided to remain overseas.
• Working on a large well established retail client across New Zealand, handling their loyalty programme website and application development.
• Leading/Mentoring a team of frontend developers across various squads both from client and internal side.
• As a Lead Fullstack Developer, you’ll build robust, performant, and accessible web applications, partnering with multidisciplinary teams to design and implement strategic, technically sound solutions. You’ll work across the stack, advocate best practices in quality and security, mentor junior developers, and help evolve engineering standards.

The candidate

• A Lead developer / experienced contractor (approx. 10+yrs) open for a perm opportunity with strong React WEB DEVELOPMENT skillsets. (Non Negotiable) [Seniors with previous team leading experience can be considered.]
• HTML/CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript

Good to have:

• React Native / NextJS
• Headless CMS preferred (great if its Contentful or Contentstack)
• Playwright exposure (for QA)
• CICD ; Proficient with Git for version control and collaborative workflows
• Ability to write clean, scalable, and maintainable code
• Experience in Agile/Scrum, including sprint planning and ceremonies
