Machine Learning Engineer

Salt is currently hiring a Senior Machine Learning Engineer for a client of ours in Amsterdam.

This is a remote role, but may need some travel once a month to the client.

Role is paying around 100 euros an hour for freelance contractors.

What You’ll Do

• Own ML frameworks end-to-end, from design and development to deployment and operation
• Build and enhance shared feature engineering and model-serving infrastructure
• Develop scalable, high-performance systems supporting millions of users
• Evaluate and integrate internal and third-party solutions, balancing speed and long-term sustainability
• Experiment with new tools and technologies to improve performance, scalability, and data quality
• Partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions
• Drive innovation and engineering excellence across the ML ecosystem

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer or similar role
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or related field
• Strong programming skills in Python (Java/Scala/Perl a plus)
• Experience with cloud ML platforms (e.g., AWS SageMaker)
• Hands-on experience with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, LightGBM, or scikit-learn
• Experience working with large-scale data systems (e.g., MySQL, PySpark, Airflow, Snowflake)
• Solid understanding of ML algorithms, statistical modeling, optimization, and experimentation (A/B testing, causal inference)
• Strong communication skills in English
