Our client is a leading provider of cloud-based HR and Payroll software, trusted by thousands of businesses to streamline their people and payroll processes. With continued growth both locally and internationally, they are looking to add a Payroll Consultant to their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys payroll but wants to move beyond traditional payroll processing into a more consultative, client-focused role.

About the Role

As a Payroll Consultant, you will work closely with clients to support payroll processing, provide payroll guidance, troubleshoot issues, and assist businesses in getting the most value from their payroll systems.

You will become a trusted advisor to clients, helping them navigate payroll complexities while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and excellent service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Process and support end-to-end payroll activities for clients
• Assist clients with payroll-related queries and troubleshooting
• Provide guidance on payroll legislation and best practices
• Prepare and submit payroll-related statutory requirements
• Conduct payroll reconciliations and reporting
• Support payroll implementations, system upgrades, and migrations
• Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies
• Liaise with internal teams to address complex payroll issues
• Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation
• Build strong relationships with clients and provide exceptional service

Requirements

• 2-5 years’ payroll experience
• Strong understanding of payroll processes and legislation
• Experience with payroll systems such as Sage VIP, Sage 300, PaySpace, SimplePay or similar
• Knowledge of EMP201, EMP501, UIF, PAYE and statutory submissions
• Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel

Highly Advantageous

• Payroll bureau or outsourced payroll experience
• Experience supporting multiple clients
• Exposure to payroll implementations or system migrations
• Payroll certifications or related studies
