PR Manager

PR Manager wanted – but probably not the kind you’re thinking of.

If your idea of PR still ends at “press release sent, media coverage secured, job done”… this may be a slightly uncomfortable job ad.

I’m working on a rather interesting PR Manager search in Kuala Lumpur for a premium automotive brand in Malaysia – and the brief is decidedly more 2026 than 2016.

Yes, you still need to know your way around:

• Media relations
• Reputation management
• Crisis communications
• Stakeholders, agencies, KOLs and all the usual PR suspects

But here’s the plot twist:

We’re also looking for someone who is genuinely curious about AI, GEO and how brands show up in generative search.

Think less: “Can ChatGPT help me write this press release?”

And more: “What is ChatGPT actually saying about my brand – and how do I influence the information ecosystem behind that answer?”

The sweet spot is likely someone from a PR / integrated communications agency, with around 6-8 years’ experience, who has handled multiple brands and enjoys being slightly ahead of where the industry is going.

You absolutely do not need to arrive as Malaysia’s reigning GEO champion. Frankly, I’m not convinced that person exists yet. But you should be curious, digitally savvy, strategically minded, independent, and excited by the idea of helping build something that doesn’t already come with a neat little playbook.
