Job Description
Summary of role
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Project Manager to lead the implementation of the Fleet Management System (FMS).
This is a high-visibility role working in direct partnership with our Regional Africa Technical Lead (FMS SME). While the SME will provide technical blueprint and system configuration expertise, the PM will be responsible for the rigorous execution, schedule management, and stakeholder coordination required to bring the project to a successful “Go-Live.”
Responsibilities
- Project Governance: Manage the master project schedule, budget, and resource allocation for the Sukari OP rollout.
- Partnership with Technical Lead: Work “hand-in-hand” with the technical SMEs to translate technical requirements into actionable site-level tasks.
- Infrastructure Coordination: Coordinate with site IT and Maintenance teams to ensure hardware installation on Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) and network backbone (LTE/Wi-Fi) readiness.
- Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary liaison between the Sukari site leadership, Corporate/regional teams, and the vendor (Hexagon).
- Reporting: Provide high-level progress reporting to the site/regional/corporate teams and the PMO, ensuring risks are identified and mitigated early.
Qualifications
- Matric and a Tertiary Degree
- 8+ years of experience managing complex industrial or capital projects.
- PMP or Prince2 certification is highly desirable.
- Management experience within a PMO is highly desirable.
Skills
- Basic understanding of surface and underground mining, mine site environments, safety protocols, and the impact of technology on production.
- A track record of taking complex technical plans and seeing them through to completion on time and within budget.
- Ability to navigate a matrixed corporate environment while maintaining a strong “on-site” presence with operational teams.
- Experience holding third-party contractors and vendors (like Hexagon) accountable to project milestones.
