We are recruiting for an experienced Project Support Officer to support a high-profile SEND Transformation Programme within a local government environment.
The role will provide essential project and programme support across a range of improvement activities designed to deliver sustainable improvements for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and their families.
The successful candidate will be highly organised, proactive and comfortable working across a complex transformation programme, supporting governance, reporting, stakeholder coordination and the effective tracking of programme activity.
Key Responsibilities
· Maintain and update project and programme plans, documentation, trackers and records
· Track actions, milestones, deliverables, risks, issues and dependencies across the programme
· Support the production of progress reports, programme updates, presentations and briefing papers
· Coordinate meetings, workshops, stakeholder sessions and wider programme activity
· Produce accurate meeting minutes and ensure actions are clearly recorded, tracked and followed through
· Support programme governance, including the preparation and coordination of meeting papers and supporting documentation
· Maintain effective project office systems and processes to support programme delivery
· Coordinate communication and activity across multiple teams and stakeholders
· Manage competing priorities and proactively identify and resolve issues where appropriate
· Support the programme team with wider administrative and project coordination requirements
Essential Skills and Experience
· Previous council / local government experience
· Strong experience supporting complex projects, programmes or transformation initiatives
· Previous experience working within a project, programme or transformation office environment
· Strong understanding of project governance, action tracking, risk and issue management and programme reporting
· Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
· Strong minute-taking, documentation and record-management skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Confidence working with stakeholders at different levels across a complex organisation
· Ability to work independently, use initiative and proactively follow up actions and deliverables
· Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and Teams
Desirable Experience
· Previous experience supporting SEND programmes or services
· Experience within children’s services, education or health
· Experience supporting public sector transformation or improvement programmes
Important Information
· Applicants must be UK residents
· No visa sponsorship options are available for this role
· The successful candidate must be able to attend the office a minimum of two days per week
· Office days will need to remain flexible to meet service and programme requirements
· No fully remote option is available
