Senior Financial Accountant

Based in Ellerslie, this role offers the opportunity to take ownership of the New Zealand finance function while partnering closely with local and international stakeholders across a multinational environment.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Finance Manager based in Australia, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting activities for the New Zealand business. Working closely with the wider ANZ and global finance teams, you will ensure accurate reporting, strong compliance, effective controls and continuous process improvements.

This role offers significant autonomy, commercial involvement and exposure to a highly collaborative international environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the month-end and year-end close processes
• Prepare monthly financial reporting and group reporting requirements
• Maintain the general ledger and prepare journal entries
• Conduct financial analysis, reconciliations and variance reporting
• Oversee AP, AR and Payroll activities delivered through Shared Services
• Manage NZ tax compliance, including FBT obligations
• Lead external audit processes and statutory reporting requirements
• Partner with business stakeholders across New Zealand and Australia
• Identify and implement process and system improvements
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and local statutory requirements

About You

To be successful, you’ll bring:

• CA, CPA or equivalent accounting qualification
• 10+ years’ experience in a senior accounting or finance role
• Strong knowledge of NZ taxation and statutory reporting requirements
• Experience working within multinational organisations
• Exposure to IFRS, US GAAP or complex reporting environments
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and stakeholder management capability
• A proactive, hands-on and commercially minded approach
• The ability to operate effectively in a standalone finance role while collaborating across global teams
