Salt has partnered with a leader in the Australian tertiary education sector, based in Melbourne, you’ll join the team in a Senior level position in the Global Networks team to lead transformation in the build, deployment, and management of networks.
We’re looking for advanced experience working with Ansible and Python, focused on network automation, infrastructure-as-code, and modern data centre networking.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement and maintain enterprise-grade network infrastructure across campus, data centre and cloud environments.
- Drive network automation initiatives using Python, Ansible, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) methodologies.
- Configure and manage Cisco Nexus VXLAN and eVPN architectures, with strong understanding of BGP and OSPF routing.
- Support Aruba switching and wireless networks, integrating seamlessly with Cisco environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, ensuring performance, stability, and security.
- Collaborate with engineering, security and cloud teams to align infrastructure with business objectives.
- Maintain high-quality technical documentation and contribute to continuous improvement of network standards.
About you:
You’re an experienced network engineer, passionate about automation, scripting, and modern network design, with the confidence to lead technical initiatives and mentor others.
- Advanced proficiency in network automation and scripting using Python and Ansible.
- Strong experience implementing infrastructure-as-code and automated configuration management.
- Proven expertise with Cisco Nexus VXLAN and eVPN (including BGP/OSPF).
- Hands-on experience with Aruba switching and wireless, plus solid Cisco routing and switching skills.
- Experience across enterprise and data centre networking, including LAN/WAN, security, and cloud connectivity (AWS, Azure).
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
- A relevant IT qualification and/or CCNP or CCIE certification (preferred).
