About the Opportunity
An opportunity exists for an experienced Transport Network Engineer to join a major critical infrastructure and communications program. You will be responsible for the end-to-end design, validation, commissioning, and operational readiness of MPLS-TP transport network infrastructure within a complex multi-stakeholder environment.
The role requires ownership of technical outcomes across design, integration, testing, deployment, cutover, and post-implementation support activities.
Essential Requirements
Candidates must demonstrate experience in:
MPLS-TP Expertise
- Extensive hands-on experience with MPLS-TP transport networks.
- Strong experience with Hitachi MPLS-TP platforms.
- MPLS-TP architecture, configuration, commissioning and troubleshooting.
- Transport network resiliency and protection switching technologies.
- Timing and synchronisation network design.
- QoS and OAM design and implementation.
Network Design & Architecture
- Development of High Level and Low Level Designs (HLD/LLD).
- Creation and maintenance of:
- Logical network diagrams
- Physical network diagrams
- Topology diagrams
- Service mapping documentation
- Interface specifications
- Port allocation schedules
- Design review and technical assurance activities.
Systems Integration
- Network Management System (NMS) integration.
- Interface integration design.
- Geo-redundant management platform design.
- Multi-vendor integration and interface management.
- Cross-functional coordination with engineering, deployment, operations and project teams.
Testing & Commissioning
- Laboratory configuration and validation.
- Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
- Factory Integration Testing (FIT).
- Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
- System Integration Testing (SIT).
- Cutover planning and implementation.
- Rollback planning and operational readiness activities.
- Defect identification and resolution.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Leading technical workshops.
- Conducting design reviews and detailed design review sessions.
- Managing technical review comments and action closure.
- Presenting technical solutions to project stakeholders.
- Working across project, operational and implementation teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as technical lead for the MPLS-TP transport network workstream.
- Own solution quality, design compliance and technical outcomes.
- Produce and maintain all relevant network design documentation.
- Develop commissioning, migration and cutover strategies.
- Support laboratory validation, staging and deployment activities.
- Lead testing, acceptance and service validation activities.
- Coordinate with project managers, installation teams, operations teams and external stakeholders.
- Provide post-deployment technical support and knowledge transfer.
