Job Overview
An opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Sage Payroll Support Consultant to join a professional payroll consulting environment. This client-facing role requires a highly skilled payroll specialist with extensive Sage Pastel Payroll experience, strong compliance knowledge, and the ability to provide exceptional support to a diverse client base.
The successful candidate will be responsible for payroll processing, payroll system support, statutory submissions, client relationship management, and contributing to business development initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric certificate
- Relevant tertiary qualification
- Sage Pastel Payroll qualification (essential)
- Minimum 10 years’ experience working with Sage Pastel Payroll
- Strong practical knowledge of Sage Pastel Payroll systems
- Knowledge of other Sage products (essential)
- PCC knowledge (essential)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (essential)
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Experience with E@syFile submissions and reconciliations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and client-facing abilities
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
- Own reliable vehicle and valid driver’s licence
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Support and Processing
- Process weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payrolls accurately and within agreed deadlines
- Provide telephonic, remote, and onsite support to clients
- Assist clients with payroll system queries and troubleshooting
- Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation
- Perform payroll reconciliations and related administrative functions
- Ensure payroll data integrity and accuracy at all times
Compliance and Legislative Requirements
- Prepare and submit EMP501 reconciliations through E@syFile
- Ensure compliance with payroll, SARS, and employment legislation
- Monitor legislative updates and implement required changes
- Assist clients with payroll compliance and reporting requirements
- Provide guidance on payroll best practices and statutory obligations
Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients
- Deliver professional, responsive, and solution-driven service
- Manage client expectations effectively
- Identify opportunities to improve client payroll processes and efficiencies
Business Development
- Canvass for new clients during quieter periods
- Promote payroll packages, software upgrades, consulting services, and related solutions
- Identify opportunities to expand services within existing client accounts
- Support business growth through proactive client engagement
