Senior Software Engineer – Backend Automation

We are partnering with a leading global technology organisation to hire a Senior Software Engineer for its infrastructure automation engineering team in Singapore.

This is a highly hands-on engineering role focused on designing and building scalable internal applications and automation solutions that streamline complex infrastructure and operational workflows.

You will work across a variety of projects rather than being tied to a single product, taking ownership from understanding the business problem and designing the technical solution through to development, testing and delivery.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build and integrate scalable applications and automation solutions for complex internal workflows.
• Take end-to-end ownership of engineering projects, from understanding business requirements and solution design through development and delivery.
• Architect efficient, scalable systems and make appropriate technical and database design decisions.
• Develop high-quality backend services and APIs using Python or other modern object-oriented programming languages.
• Build and enhance user-facing application components where required.
• Integrate information and workflows across multiple internal systems and platforms.
• Analyse and optimise code for quality, reliability, efficiency and performance.
• Identify and resolve scalability and performance issues while reducing technical debt.
• Conduct thoughtful code reviews and implement appropriate testing, rollout and monitoring practices.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, Operations, Infrastructure and Engineering stakeholders across global teams.
• Contribute ideas and technical recommendations across a diverse portfolio of automation projects.

What We’re Looking For

• 8+ years of hands-on software development experience, ideally building large-scale web, backend or enterprise systems.
• Strong backend engineering expertise with Python or another object-oriented stack such as Java, Go, Node.js or PHP.
• Demonstrated experience designing and developing new systems and applications, rather than primarily supporting or maintaining existing applications.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, system design, scalable architecture and software engineering fundamentals.
• Experience building and integrating RESTful APIs / HTTP-based services.
• Strong understanding of databases, including design and performance trade-offs.
• Proven experience delivering high-quality, reliable and scalable production code.
• Experience independently owning significant technical initiatives or projects.
• Strong code review, testing, deployment and monitoring practices.
• Excellent communication, documentation and stakeholder-management skills.

Nice-to-Have

• Strong hands-on Python development experience.
• Frontend development exposure using ReactJS or NextJS and willingness to work across the stack when required.
• TypeScript, JavaScript/ES6+, HTML5 and CSS3.
• GraphQL, Redis and RDBMS experience.
• Shell scripting and workflow/process automation experience.
• Experience with tracking or analytics technologies such as GA or GTM.
• Previous engineering experience within large-scale technology, banking/financial services or technology consulting environments.
