The AI engineers are building the brains – you’ll architect the nervous system.
You’ll work shoulder-to-shoulder with AI engineers, product designers, and founders to ship modular, scalable, battle-tested backend systems that power autonomous agents in enterprise environments.
Bonus: Using AI tools to boost your own efficiency isn’t optional – it’s expected.
What You’ll Do:
- Design, build, and scale backend systems powering AI orchestration engines (APIs, state management, async job queues, task planners).
- Integrate LLM-based agents, RAG pipelines, vector stores, and multi-agent orchestration tools.
- Build platform capabilities including:
- Agent identity management & secure credentials
- Agent task routing and lifecycle management (e.g., Temporal)
- Modular plugin and tool-execution infrastructure
- Own API and service architecture for frontend apps, third-party APIs, and enterprise clients.
- Optimize for performance, observability, and reliability (thousands of real-world workflows daily).
- Champion clean code, testing, CI/CD, and documentation.
- Contribute to platform-level architecture decisions (event streaming, memory persistence, auth layers, deployment pipelines, cloud infra).
- Mentor engineers and raise the bar across quality and velocity.
What You Bring:
- 9+ years backend engineering experience designing scalable distributed systems.
- Deep expertise in Java (microservices, serverless, etc.).
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, REST APIs.
- Hands-on experience with workflow orchestration tools like Temporal (or similar).
- Strong knowledge of GCP, Docker, Terraform, cloud-native architectures.
- Builder’s mindset – thrive in 0→1 environments.
- Excellent communication skills and cross-functional collaboration experience.
