System / Safety Assurance Manager- Major Rail Project (Sydney)
We are partnering with a Tier 1 global rail organisation to appoint an experienced Systems / Safety Assurance Manager for a major rail project in Sydney about to commence. This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving system safety and assurance outcomes from design through to delivery and operational readiness.
Reporting to the Principal Integration Manager, you will ensure systems are designed and delivered in line with RAMS, safety assurance and regulatory requirements, working closely with internal teams, contractors, regulators and Independent Safety Assessors.
Key Responsibilities :
· Lead system and safety assurance activities across design, delivery and operational readiness phases
· Develop and maintain the Operational Safety Case and safety assurance arguments (GSN)
· Ensure system safety requirements are embedded, verified and validated within design processes
· Manage and facilitate risk assessments and hazard management activities
· Review contractor safety and system assurance submissions for compliance
· Liaise with clients, regulators and Independent Safety Assessors
· Manage the Systems Assurance Program and ensure audit-ready compliance
· Provide technical leadership, mentoring and assurance governance across the project
Selection Criteria:
· Tertiary qualification in Engineering (or equivalent)
· 10+ years’ experience in rail systems and safety assurance on major infrastructure projects
· Strong knowledge of RAMS, system safety, assurance frameworks and regulatory compliance
· Proven experience managing safety cases, risk assessments and contractor assurance
· Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills
· Ability to manage multiple priorities in complex, fast-paced project environments
