Business Development Lead – U.S. Expansion (Infrastructure Sector)
Location: Eastern U.S. (Philadelphia to Florida focus) | Travel Required
About the Company:
A family-owned, private equity-backed company with a strong presence in the UK, specializing in road infrastructure solutions. The company is a market leader in road markings and surface treatments, working with state-level Departments of Transportation (DOTs) and general contractors. With $120M in revenue, it is expanding operations into the U.S. to introduce its high-friction surface treatment services.
The Role:
As the first dedicated Business Development (BD) professional in the U.S., you will be responsible for driving market entry, identifying opportunities, and establishing key relationships with decision-makers in the infrastructure sector. You will report directly to the BD leadership team and play a critical role in securing contracts ranging from $50K to $1.5M, with larger opportunities up to $2M.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead business development efforts for U.S. expansion, focusing on high-friction surface treatments.
- Build relationships with DOTs, general contractors, and key industry stakeholders.
- Identify and pursue work opportunities in both public and private sectors.
- Represent the company at industry conferences (e.g., American Traffic Safety Association).
- Drive bid processes and manage the orchestration of work-winning tenders.
- Collaborate with the UK team to ensure a smooth ramp-up and knowledge transfer.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Strong background in business development, sales, or bid management within the infrastructure, construction, or road maintenance sectors.
- Experience working with DOTs, local governments, or general contractors.
- Familiarity with private equity-backed platform companies and their growth strategies.
- Existing network within the U.S. infrastructure sector is highly preferred.
- Comfortable working independently to establish a market presence.
- Willing to travel extensively within the Eastern U.S. (PA to FL focus). Warmer states, GA, FL, SC.
