Group Head of AI Governance, Data Privacy & Enablement

Location: Remote – Cape Town

About the Role

This isn’t your average compliance gig. You’ll be the mastermind behind three big pillars:

• Data Protection (think GDPR, POPIA, and friends)
• AI Governance & Compliance (because AI needs rules too)
• AI Training & Enablement (helping teams use AI without breaking stuff)

You’ll wear the hat of Group Data Protection Officer, build a single operating system for privacy and AI across seven markets, and make sure our AI journey is fast, safe, and audit-ready. In short: you’ll keep us growing while keeping us out of trouble.

What You’ll Do

• Own the privacy playbook: policies, DPIAs, ROPA, DSARs-you name it.
• Stand up an AI Governance Framework that’s practical, not painful.
• Keep tabs on every AI use-case, vendor, and risk tier across the group.
• Train teams so they know what’s cool (and what’s not) when using AI.
• Publish monthly scorecards that make execs smile and regulators nod.

Who We’re Looking For

You’re a privacy pro with 8+ years in tech risk/compliance and a proven track record as a DPO (or deputy) in multi-market settings. You know your GDPR from your POPIA, and you can negotiate AI clauses like a boss. Bonus points if you:

• Speak fluent AI governance and risk frameworks.
• Understand ML lifecycles and privacy engineering basics.
• Have IAPP certifications (CIPP/E, CIPM) or ISO exposure.
• Can turn legal jargon into plain English and influence senior stakeholders.
