Principal Platform Engineer

• Part of restructuring the tech team to focus on value streams; Replacement position

• Drive & Lead Platform strategy and enterprise engineering standards
• Flexible & hybrid (3days a week from office; 2 anchor days as per discussion with Manager)
• Auckland CBD based
• Salary : 175k to 185k NZD + 15% bonus (negotiable for a good fit, open to talk)

The role:

• As a Principal Engineer, act as a technical leader within the team (with no people management) handling various squads across 2 value streams reporting to the Head of Platform / GM IT.
• Act as a Technical role model for direct reports and build a strong culture of individual accountability and performance to ensure delivery of business goals.
• Provide technical direction, technical decision making, leadership and coaching whenever necessary.
• Own the roadmap and backlog for platform enhancements, solution design, in collaboration with the Head of Platforms, architects, and business stakeholders.
• Responsible for the reliability, performance, security, compliance and scalability of assigned core technology platforms and ensure all audit actions are managed.

· Work closely with Product Owners, Solution Architects, Testing and Infrastructure teams to deliver outcomes along with an existing Principal Engineer handling 2 other value streams.

• Act as a key point of contact for stakeholders relying on assigned platform services.

The ideal candidate:

· Experience as a Principal Engineer/Technical Lead / Team Lead / Software Development Manager / Lead platform / Chapter Lead / Practice Lead / Engineering manager/ Principal Engineer. Current team handling candidates should be fully hands -on and should be open to build a career being a specialist (individual contributor) in the form of a Principal Engineer. (non negotiable).

· Tech Stack : C# .NET & AZURE (non negotiable).

· Orchestrated AZURE cloud migrations and established Azure DevOps CI/CD pipe (non negotiable)

· Azure Cloud hosting experience, CICD setting up best practices, Azure DevSecOps, Improving DEPLOYMNET frequency and operational efficiency (important)

· Showcasing examples for driving and leading PLATFORM STARTEGY and ENTERPRISE ENGINEERING STANDARDS.

· Proven experience managing the lifecycle of enterprise platforms or applications.

· Proven experience in technical decision making and stakeholder engagement

· Should be based in Auckland or be able to relocate to Auckland (3days from office – 2 anchor days mandatory).

· Insurance, Banking, Financial Domain (preferred obviously but not mandatory).
