Our client is a fast-growing South African fintech launching a new financial wellness programme that combines formal debt counselling, one-on-one financial coaching and savings, helping employees get out of debt and build lasting financial resilience.

Role purpose

This is a B2B sales role. You will sell the new programme to the company’s existing employer clients and close deals through to a signed SLA. Account managers open the door with clients who already use the company’s platform, and you lead the sale from there. You will also keep the sales pipeline accurate in Monday.com, so the business can see where every client stands.

Key responsibilities

Sales (main focus)

  • Work with account managers to identify and prioritise opportunities across their existing clients.
  • Lead discovery meetings to understand each client’s payroll set-up, workforce and financial wellness needs.
  • Pitch to HR, payroll and finance decision-makers, with a clear case for the employer and their employees.
  • Handle objections, negotiate commercial terms and close deals through to a signed SLA.
  • Own a sales target and report against it weekly.
  • Prepare proposals, pricing documents, information sheets and SLAs.
  • Follow up until every opportunity is won or formally closed, and record the reason either way.
  • Give Marketing feedback so the sales materials keep improving.

Contracts and handover

  • Work with Legal to get SLAs and partner terms signed without delay.
  • Make sure nothing goes to Implementation without a signed SLA and Legal sign-off.
  • Prepare a full handover pack for each signed client and hand it over to the Implementation team.
  • Keep the account manager informed, so the client experiences one joined-up team.

Pipeline and reporting

  • Set up and manage the Monday.com boards that track every client from first introduction through to retention.
  • Keep data clean and build dashboards for leadership.
  • Train and support account managers and other teams to use Monday.com consistently.
  • Run weekly pipeline meetings and produce regular pipeline reports.
  • Track conversion at each stage and recommend actions where deals stall.
  • Apply the same pipeline discipline to the company’s other products.
  • Support sales partners, and check partner commission calculations with Finance.

Working across teams

  • Work closely with account managers, Implementation, Marketing, Legal and Finance.

Requirements

Must have

  • At least 2 years of B2B sales or business development experience, with a proven record of closing deals.
  • Experience selling to companies, not individual consumers, ideally to HR, payroll or finance decision-makers.
  • A background selling payment, debt or financial wellness products, for example earned wage access, salary advances, payroll payment solutions, debt counselling, debt review, debt consolidation, or employee benefits and financial wellness programmes.
  • Credibility talking to employers and employees about pay and debt.
  • Hands-on experience managing a sales pipeline in a CRM.
  • Able to work from the Stellenbosch office five days a week.

Advantageous

  • Monday.com administration experience (HubSpot, Salesforce or Zoho also transfers).
  • Experience cross-selling or upselling into existing client accounts.
  • Experience coordinating contracts or SLAs through to signature.
  • A fintech, financial services, employee benefits or HR tech background.
  • Understanding of the South African employer and payroll environment.
  • Experience launching a new product or working in a start-up environment.
  • A qualification in Sales, Business, Commerce or a related field.

Personal attributes

  • Collaborative, and comfortable sharing client relationships with account managers.
  • Tech-savvy, and quick to pick up new tools.
  • Adaptable and comfortable under pressure.
  • Credible and mature when talking about debt.
  • Organised and detail-focused.
  • Commercially aware, with strong negotiation and presentation skills.
