Managing a team and reporting to the Director of AI & Server Technologies, this role represents an exciting opportunity to play a key role within one of the fastest-growing technology divisions. The role sits within the commercial division and is responsible for leading and developing the Server Business Development Manager (BDM) team, driving GP growth and achievement of individual and divisional targets. Alongside day-to-day sales leadership, the Sales Manager will work closely with the Director to execute wider AI & Server strategy, identify emerging market opportunities and develop new areas of growth across the UK and Europe.
The division works with a broad ecosystem of leading technology partners including Dell Technologies, Supermicro, NVIDIA, AMD, Intel, Gigabyte and ASUS, alongside specialist storage, networking, power and infrastructure vendors. A key focus will be continuing the evolution from product-led selling towards a consultative, solution-led approach, bringing together compute, AI acceleration, storage, networking, power, software and services to solve customer requirements.
The role will also play an important part in the commercial execution of AI Works, AI enablement ecosystem, helping customers and partners navigate the journey from initial AI experimentation through to scalable, governed private and hybrid AI infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, coach and develop the Server BDM team, creating a high-performance culture where individuals feel valued, empowered and accountable for their performance.
- Drive achievement of individual and team revenue, gross profit and strategic growth objectives, maintaining strong visibility of pipeline, forecast and performance.
- Work with the Director of AI & Server Technologies to develop and execute the divisional growth strategy, identifying new technologies, vendors, vertical markets and solution opportunities where they can create differentiation and sustainable growth.
- Drive the commercial execution of AI Works strategy, enabling the BDM team to identify and develop opportunities across AI infrastructure, private AI, hybrid AI, cloud repatriation and next-generation data-centre solutions.
- Continue the development of the team from traditional product selling towards consultative and solution-led selling, identifying customer workloads and requirements and bringing together technologies from across Hammer’s portfolio.
- Identify accounts with significant growth, profit or solution potential and work directly with BDMs, Account Managers, pre-sales and vendors to progress and close strategic opportunities.
- Build and execute plans within identified vertical markets, developing repeatable propositions and go-to-market strategies that can be scaled across the wider sales organisation.
- Take responsibility for continued European growth, working closely with regional BDMs and Account Managers to develop existing customers, recruit new partners and identify net-new opportunities.
- Build strong strategic relationships with key technology vendors, ensuring the team is aligned to vendor priorities, new technologies and go-to-market initiatives.
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the server, AI and wider data-centre market, proactively keeping ahead of emerging technologies, customer requirements and competitive trends.
- Work closely with pre-sales and technical teams to develop customer solutions and ensure the BDM team effectively uses technical capabilities throughout the sales process.
- Build strong relationships across other commercial divisions, enabling the team to identify and develop cross-divisional opportunities spanning servers, storage, networking, power, infrastructure and services.
- Attend meetings with strategic customers and target accounts, supporting the sales team with discovery, opportunity development, commercial strategy and closing.
- Mentor and coach the BDM team, regularly evaluating performance, providing meaningful feedback and developing individual career and development plans.
- Demonstrate high levels of motivation and leadership, maintaining strong team morale while driving consistent performance against daily, weekly, monthly and annual objectives.
- Demonstrate a strong awareness of and commitment to Ethics and Compliance and the Group Code of Conduct.
