Role Level:
Senior Business Analyst / Lead Business Analyst (Hands-on, delivery-focused, enterprise-grade consulting profile)
Role Overview:
The SAP Commerce Cloud Business Analyst acts as a critical bridge between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams, translating complex business requirements into scalable, end-to-end commerce solutions.
The role supports B2B, B2C, omnichannel commerce implementations, ensuring alignment with business strategy, platform best practices, and enterprise architecture standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Engage with business stakeholders to elicit, analyse, and document functional and non-functional requirements.
* Translate business needs into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications for SAP Commerce Cloud.
* Provide thought leadership on eCommerce best practices, including B2B, B2C, marketplace, and omnichannel models.
* Facilitate workshops, stakeholder interviews, and requirement validation sessions
* Collaborate closely with developers, architects, UX designers, and integration teams across the full delivery lifecycle.
* Support Agile delivery practices, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, retrospectives and release management.
* Own story readiness and support delivery through the sprint lifecycle, ensuring stories are well-defined, understood, and achievable.
* Work closely with developers and QA to ensure acceptance criteria are clearly interpreted, implemented, and testable.
* Lead or participate in functional story reviews (BA, Developer, QA) to validate shared understanding before and during development
* Ensure QA teams are fully equipped to validate stories, including clarifying requirements, edge cases, and expected outcomes
* Drive story completion by proactively resolving ambiguities, answering queries, and removing functional blockers during the sprint
* Support and coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with business stakeholders
* Identify process gaps, risks, and dependencies, escalating where required and proposing pragmatic solutions.
* Contribute to solution roadmaps, process optimisation initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
* Act as a trusted advisor to clients, supporting stakeholder communication and expectation management.
Required Skills and Experience
* Proven experience as a Business Analyst or Senior Analyst as part of an Agile development team in an eCommerce implementation.
* Strong understanding of eCommerce business processes, including order management, product catalogues, pricing, promotions, and fulfilment.
* Solid experience working in Agile environments (Scrum and/or Kanban).
* Ability to work across technical and business domains, with sufficient technical understanding to engage development and architecture teams effectively.
* Experience with enterprise integrations, including ERP systems and external service providers.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, able to operate at multiple organisational levels.
Preferred / Advantageous Experience
* Background in retail, distribution, or enterprise eCommerce environments.
* Experience in Product Ownership, Business Architecture, or Solution Design roles.
* Exposure to UX design, process re-engineering, and data-driven decision-making.
* Familiarity with APIs, microservices, and system integrations
* Experience with tools like Jira, Confluence, or similar
* Prior involvement in vendor assessments or platform selection initiatives.
