Salt is currently hiring a Site Reliability Engineer for a client of ours in Amsterdam.
This role is open for B2B contractors in Europe, or KVK/ZZP freelancers in the Netherlands.
Site Reliability Engineer (Kubernetes Platform)
Role Overview
We’re looking for a hands-on Site Reliability Engineer to help operate and support a large-scale Kubernetes platform. You’ll focus on maintaining cluster health, performing upgrades, supporting engineering teams, and improving platform reliability through automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain Kubernetes clusters across cloud and on-premises environments.
- Plan and execute Kubernetes and platform component upgrades.
- Monitor cluster health, troubleshoot issues, and resolve incidents.
- Support engineering teams by diagnosing platform issues and promoting Kubernetes best practices.
- Automate repetitive operational tasks and reduce manual effort.
- Contribute to documentation, runbooks, and continuous platform improvements.
Required Skills
- Strong operational experience with Kubernetes, including upgrades, troubleshooting, and cluster management.
- Experience with managed Kubernetes platforms (such as EKS) and/or on-premises Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, and Grafana.
- Experience with scripting or automation to improve operational efficiency.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
Nice to Have
- AWS experience.
- Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools.
- Configuration management experience (e.g., Puppet, Ansible).
- Experience supporting internal developer platforms or infrastructure services.
