Salt has partnered with a well-known New Zealand fashion boutique, renowned for its stylish collections and strong following among fashion and lifestyle lovers. They are seeking a Temporary Merchandise Planning Assistant to provide key support to their high-performing team during a busy period.

About the Role:

  • Parnell office, close to cafes, shopping & public transportation
  • $34-$40 per hour + 8% holiday pay (depending on experience)
  • 3 Month temporary assignment starting ASAP
  • Full-Time, Monday – Friday

Based at their HQ, this role will be supporting the Merchandise Planners with administration, planning, reporting and stock management. This role keeps the planning function running smoothly by maintaining accurate data, preparing reports, and coordinating administrative tasks across Buying, Allocations, Marketing, Retail, and Supply Chain. It can be a demanding environment at peak times, but it offers valuable exposure to a dynamic setting.

Day to Day:

  • Maintain and analyse weekly sales, stock, and trading reports to support business performance.
  • Prepare data insights and reports to assist forecasting, range reviews, and commercial decision-making.
  • Monitor product performance, identifying best sellers, slow-moving stock, and key trading opportunities.
  • Support stock distribution and replenishment to ensure stores have the right products at the right time.
  • Assist with promotions, markdowns, and clearance activity reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support planning cycles and business objectives.

About You:

We’re looking for someone who loves working with numbers, has a keen eye for detail, and enjoys turning data into meaningful insights. You’ll be a proactive and adaptable team player, comfortable building relationships across the business and managing competing deadlines in a dynamic retail environment. A passion for fashion and a willingness to learn merchandise planning and allocation processes will set you up for success in this role.

You will bring:

  • Experience with administration and reporting, ideally from a retail/fashion background
  • Must have Intermediate-Advanced Excel skills (X-lookups, Pivot Tables)
  • Interest in fashion, retail, trends and customer behaviour
  • Organised and comfortable working to strict deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, particularly with data and reporting
  • Experience with POS, ERP, or merchandise planning systems is a plus, but not essential.
