We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to support the installation, configuration, testing, and commissioning of advanced warehouse automation and robotic storage solutions. In this hands-on, highly technical role, you will be responsible for ensuring automated warehouse systems are successfully integrated into customer operations, from initial commissioning through go-live and final handover. You will work with technologies including automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS), pallet and tote shuttles, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), conveyors, lifts, and integrated control systems. The ideal candidate combines strong electromechanical and automation expertise with hands-on commissioning experience, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the flexibility to travel extensively to customer sites across North America.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute the commissioning of automated warehouse and robotic systems, including preparation, pre-commissioning, testing, go-live, reporting, and final sign-off.
  • Configure, test, and integrate automated equipment, ensuring seamless operation within the customer’s warehouse environment.
  • Support the integration of Warehouse Control Systems (WCS) with customer IT infrastructure and operational systems.
  • Perform PLC software configuration, system testing, and troubleshooting during commissioning activities.
  • Work across electrical, mechanical, and automation systems, including PLCs, communication protocols, sensors, instrumentation, and safety devices.
  • Conduct functional testing and validation of automated storage systems, conveyors, robotic equipment, and associated technologies.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues during commissioning, system integration, and go-live, ensuring timely resolution and minimal operational disruption.
  • Provide onsite and remote technical support during commissioning and assist service engineering teams with post-installation troubleshooting when required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve system performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain commissioning documentation, technical procedures, test reports, and project completion records.
  • Deliver technical training to systems integrators, customer maintenance teams, and operational personnel.
  • Collaborate with project engineers, controls engineers, software teams, and international technical specialists to ensure successful system implementation.
  • Support technical activities at various customer facilities, including cold storage environments and elevated warehouse structures, while adhering to all safety requirements.
  • Identify and communicate potential service and support opportunities within existing customer environments.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and share technical knowledge with colleagues.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechatronics, Automation, Robotics, Controls Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience installing, configuring, testing, or commissioning automated industrial systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of electromechanical systems, industrial automation, robotics, and automated material handling equipment.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and controls-related issues within automated environments.
  • Understanding of PLC-based control systems, industrial communication protocols, sensors, instrumentation, and safety systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation, engineering drawings, and system specifications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with customers, engineering teams, and technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently at customer sites while coordinating with remote engineering and support teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively and work in varying industrial environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous commissioning experience within warehouse automation, material handling, ASRS, or robotics.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC programming, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and conveyor control systems.
  • Familiarity with Warehouse Control Systems (WCS) and integration with customer IT environments.
  • Experience with industrial programming languages, scripting, or command-line tools.
  • Exposure to automated shuttle systems, mobile robots, or other advanced intralogistics technologies.
