About the Company

Our client, a well-funded Series A AI and computer vision startup, is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to own a critical data ingestion platform, including OCR, document classification, embeddings, and AI/CV processing. The role is heavily focused on distributed systems, workflow orchestration, reliability, and scalability, with significant ownership over their Temporal architecture.

Responsibilities

• Own a critical data ingestion platform, including OCR, document classification, embeddings, and AI/CV processing.
• Focus on distributed systems, workflow orchestration, reliability, and scalability.
• Take significant ownership over their Temporal architecture.
• Work with Docker, Kubernetes, and production infrastructure.
• Build durable, fault-tolerant, highly scalable systems.

Qualifications

• Must be eligible to work in the US

Required Skills

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience
• 3+ years of Python
• Strong production experience with Temporal
• Solid distributed systems fundamentals
• Strong AWS experience
• Experience operating and debugging production systems

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Python, Temporal, AWS, S3, DynamoDB, SQS, Redis
• Experience with distributed systems and long-running workflows
• Experience with OCR, document processing, embeddings, and AI/CV pipelines
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and production infrastructure
• Experience building durable, fault-tolerant, highly scalable systems

Pay range and compensation package

• Comp: $180-220K base + equity
• Location: Hybrid, 2 days onsite in Redwood City
