Interface Package Lead – COM Engineer– Major Rail Project (Sydney)
We are seeking an experienced COM Engineer for a major Sydney rail project. Reporting to the Interface Package Lead CCS/COM, you will deliver detailed COM design and integration activities, ensuring compliance with standards, budgets, and schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop and implement coordination and interface processes across the design, procurement, and construction
· Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated COM solutions
· Manage COM interface issues, risks, and changes using project management tools
· Ensure COM designs meet system-of-systems architecture and relevant standards (EN 50126/8/9, IEC 62443, ITU/IEEE)
· Provide expert COM support through system lifecycle phases including testing, safety assessments, and operational readiness
· Support construction phasing, access planning, and cutover strategies in a live rail environment
· Assist with defect management and readiness assessments for operational handover
·
· Support defect management, snag resolution, and end-of-Defects Liability Period reviews.
· Contribute to readiness assessments and approvals for Operational Readiness, Trial Running, and Revenue Service, focusing on COM performance, resilience, and system behaviour at interfaces.
Selection Criteria :
· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications, Systems Engineering, or related field
· Minimum 3 years’ experience in rail or mass transit projects, including 2-3 years on Australian systems
· Strong knowledge of communications architectures (networks, QoS, redundancy, time sync)
· Ability to interpret complex contracts, standards, and operational requirements into engineering solutions
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office
· Excellent organisational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities independently
· Adaptable and eager to learn in a dynamic environment
