About the Company

Our client is a global technology organization specializing in enterprise networking, infrastructure, and advanced connectivity solutions. The company partners with leading organizations to design, implement, and support secure, scalable, and high-performance network environments.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Resident Engineer to provide hands-on technical expertise, post-sales support, and network automation within a large-scale service provider environment. This is a highly technical, customer-facing role focused on ensuring the availability, reliability, and performance of complex IP/MPLS networks. You will work closely with network engineering, architecture, and operations teams to support critical infrastructure, troubleshoot complex issues, and drive continuous network improvements. The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in Juniper networking technologies, large-scale service provider networks, and Python-based network automation, combined with excellent troubleshooting and customer engagement skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day technical and operational support across production and pre-production network environments.
  • Troubleshoot complex hardware, software, and network issues within large-scale IP/MPLS infrastructures.
  • Manage technical support escalations, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Support critical network incidents, outages, upgrades, maintenance windows, and infrastructure migrations.
  • Assess network health, stability, capacity, and performance, recommending improvements and best practices.
  • Support network design evolution, infrastructure expansion, and the adoption of new technologies.
  • Conduct technical workshops to understand network architecture, operational requirements, and future infrastructure needs.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), methods of procedure (MOPs), fault diagnosis processes, and network configuration standards.
  • Perform laboratory testing, certification, and integration of new networking hardware and software releases before production deployment.
  • Develop Python-based automation scripts and tools to streamline network provisioning, configuration validation, health checks, and troubleshooting.
  • Support the adoption and integration of network automation solutions into existing operational workflows.
  • Provide technical training and guidance to engineering, implementation, and operations teams.
  • Produce technical reports covering network performance, operational issues, project progress, and remediation activities.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and technical specialists to share best practices and minimize operational risks.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, deploying, and supporting large-scale service provider or Multiple System Operator (MSO) networks.
  • Strong experience with Juniper MX, QFX, EX, ACX, and PTX platforms.
  • Advanced knowledge of Junos OS and CLI configuration, troubleshooting, and administration.
  • Proven experience supporting major network upgrades, transformations, expansions, and production environments.
  • Strong understanding of service provider networking technologies, including:

– TCP/IP, MPLS, IPv4, and IPv6

– BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, RSVP, LDP, and MPLS-TE

– BGP routing policies and peering

– MPLS VPNs, L3VPN, VPLS, and MVPN

– Ethernet switching and VLANs (802.1Q)

– Quality of Service (QoS) and Class of Service (CoS)

  • Hands-on Python scripting and Juniper PyEZ experience, with the ability to develop and maintain network automation solutions.
  • Experience integrating automation tools into existing network operations and engineering processes.
  • Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and fault isolation capabilities.
  • Ability to translate technical and business requirements into scalable network solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly during critical incidents and high-pressure escalation scenarios.
  • Strong customer-facing, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to Have

  • Professional networking certifications such as JNCIS, JNCIP, JNCIE, CCNP, or CCIE.
  • Experience supporting large telecommunications, broadband, or cable network environments.
  • Experience developing automated network health checks, configuration validation tools, and operational scripts.
  • Exposure to additional Juniper networking platforms and technologies.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is an opportunity to work within a complex, large-scale networking environment, supporting critical infrastructure and advanced networking technologies. You will play an important role in maintaining network reliability, supporting major infrastructure initiatives, and driving automation improvements that enhance operational efficiency. If you are an experienced Network Engineer with deep Juniper expertise, strong Python automation skills, and a passion for solving complex networking challenges, we’d love to hear from you.
