An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Senior Infrastructure & Systems Administrator to join a well-established technology organisation. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll take ownership of critical infrastructure, cloud platforms, cybersecurity and enterprise systems while leading a small infrastructure team.
If you enjoy solving complex technical challenges, mentoring others and driving continuous improvement across modern Microsoft environments, this role offers plenty of variety and genuine influence.
About the Role
Reporting into the Research & Development Manager, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the availability, security and performance of the organisation’s infrastructure across cloud, hosted and on-premises environments.
You’ll lead day-to-day infrastructure operations while partnering with development teams, leadership and external vendors to deliver secure, reliable technology services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor the Infrastructure Administration team
- Manage Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure and services
- Administer Hyper-V virtual environments and Windows Server infrastructure
- Support Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Microsoft Intune
- Maintain hosted application environments and datacentre infrastructure
- Drive infrastructure upgrades, cloud migration and automation initiatives
- Strengthen cybersecurity controls, identity management and disaster recovery capabilities
- Monitor system performance, availability and security
- Develop infrastructure documentation, operational standards and best practices
- Provide Level 3 technical support and technical leadership across the business
About You
You’ll be a technically strong infrastructure professional who enjoys remaining hands-on while leading a team.
You’ll bring experience with:
- Microsoft Azure administration
- Hyper-V virtualisation
- Windows Server environments
- Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Intune
- Enterprise networking including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs and firewalls
- Cybersecurity operations and security best practices
- Team leadership, stakeholder engagement and project delivery
Highly regarded:
- PowerShell scripting and automation
- Co-location or datacentre environments
- Backup and disaster recovery solutions
- ITIL experience
- Microsoft, Security+ or related infrastructure certifications
